Notice is hereby given that the Board of Supervisors of Watts Township will hold a public hearing on March 6, 2024, at 5:30 p.m. at the Watts Buffalo Community Center located at 57 Blacksnake Road, Duncannon, PA. The purpose of the public hearing is to consider an amendment to the Zoning Ordinance establishing requirements for the installation, operation, and decommissioning of solar energy systems as accessory uses and principal uses.
The amendment will add definitions in regard to the solar systems and provide regulations for accessory solar energy systems and principal solar energy systems.
Accessory solar energy systems will be allowed as a permitted use in all zoning districts. Principal solar energy systems are a permitted use in the C-1 , C-2, and industrial zoning districts. They are not allowed as a conditional or special exception use in any zoning district. The ordinance sets forth detailed regulations for the solar energy systems. For the principal solar energy systems, there is a decommissioning requirement.
Following the public hearing, the Board of Supervisor will immediately commence their regularly scheduled meeting and will consider the enactment of the ordinance at that meeting. A copy of the proposed amendment to the zoning ordinance is available for public inspection at the township building during regular business hours, a copy is on file with the Perry County Times, and with the Perry County Law Library.
